Dear Friends of Russian Lacquer Art,
We are happy to invite you for already becoming a traditional annual "private show" of genuine Russian lacquer boxes by Black Lacquer Co-operative from the 5th till 10th of October 2006 in Minneapolis, MN, USA. It will take place in apartment of one of our American collectors - Dave Christensen located at 2835 Rice St. #911, Roseville, MN 55113. Parking for the show will be free.
You will have a chance to find your own treasure or unique gift from approximately 250 unique boxes from Palekh, Fedoskino, Kholuy and Mstera (many not even listed on our website).
It will be an informal free private show with everybody highly welcomed from 1.30 till 8.00 pm. We will have as usual Russian music and a bit of Russian vodka... just a bit. You could bring your own boxes for free appraisal and authenticity qualification if you like. There will be a one hour free seminar (questions and answers mainly) given by Mr. Christensen as a knowledgeable long-term American collector and Co-operative's representative about Russian lacquer boxes on Saturday the 7th at 4pm.
We will have many different shapes (from broaches to complicated Persian 9-sided chests), sizes and colors; modern and old collectable boxes, new Russian icons and decorative wall plaques. There will be the full range of quality starting from rather simple (but still genuine) broaches through the gift quality boxes to masterpieces of most well-known top artists.

We are very glad to inform you that we will participate together with the Museum of Russian Art, Bloomington, MN, USA (Hampshire Ave.So, 554538, www.tmora.org, for museum contacts -Joan Lee) in sales-exhibition "Legends in Lacquer" during September 20-October 10, 2004. If you will register in advance (email to the info@palekh.net ) as a future visitor, you will receive a special discount coupon, which you could use during the sales part of exhibition which will take part from Tuesday Oct.5 through Saturday, Oct.9:10am-8pm and Sunday, Oct.10:12 Noon to 6pm. You will have a chance to see almost 200 unique boxes, chests, icons, plaques and broaches from all 4 lacquer schools (mostly Palekh, Kholui and Fedoskino), some of them will be never listed on the website.
There will be a special events: Saturday, Oct.9, 1pm:
- Seminar by Black Lacquers Co-operative Representative (history of the art, various styles of boxes, techniques employed by the artists and the growing popularity of lacquer art).
- 3.00p.m: Seminar by David Christensen, collector of Russian lacquer boxes, Roseville, Minnesota, USA (will relate the collector's journey from his introduction to lacquer boxes to his quest for elegant, elaborately painted masterpieces). His collection will be demonstrated during the whole exhibition time, not for sale.
"The artistry of these painters is another form of art, an extension of Russian fine art and folk culture which is evolved over generations", said Bradford Shinkle, IV, the museum's president.
While reservations are not required, pre-registration is encouraged. There is no admission charge for the exhibition or the seminars, however a donation museum donation of 3.00US is suggested.
Everybody is very welcome for this real BIG Russian Art event.

We would like to inform you that our co-operative will be participating in the Minneapolis Star of the North Antique Show, scheduled for November 7-9 2003, at the Minneapolis Convention Center in Minneapolis, MN, USA, 11.00-21.00 on Friday, November 7; 11.00-19.00 on Saturday, November 8 and 11.00-17.00 on Sunday, November 9.
This could be a great and unique opportunity to the collectors, Russian lacquer art lovers and just not indifferent to the beauty people to look, keep by hands, actually check by the magnifying glass and so on authentic Russian lacquer boxes of Palekh, Kholui, Fedoskino and Mstera. And you will be buying at wholesale prices for an American market from direct Russian producer.
There will be a reasonably large part of are inventory of new and old boxes, which you could see on the website and some new not shown here pieces (from broaches to large masterpieces). As for as we know, there will be several other (American) companies selling Russian lacquer boxes on the show - so you will have good chance to check our price/quality level and variety of items.

In June 12, 2003 - June 25 we will participate in the
specialized sales exhibition "Treasures from Russia (ancient,
modern icons and lacquered miniatures)" together with two
Dutch companies - Inna Kauffmann Gallery and Zoetmulder
Ikonen. Exhibition will take place in Holland, Rotterdam in the
very center of the city, in the one of the oldest and most
beautiful churches of Europe - Laurenskerk (Grote of Sint-
Laurenskerk Grote Kerkplein 27 3011GC Rotterdam,
Netherlands). On the exhibition there will be over one hundred
icons from the past five centuries (Zoetmulder Ikonen) and a
very wide choice of high quality lacquered miniatures from all
four famous schools, Russian village of Palekh, Mstera,
Fedoskino and Kholui (Black Lacquers Co-operative and Inna
Kauffmann
Gallery).

A lot of connected with Russian Culture events will

be given by Ekaterina Schanitsina, one of the top painters
from Palekh;

lecture about the story of the Icons by Dr. Desiree Krikhaar

organ concert, music from Russia. World premiere of the
composition "Homage Holland" specially composed for the
three organs of the Laurenskerk by the Russian composer
