Nikolai Lopatin, "The Flying Ship", 5-sided chest,
27x21x23, 2002, 10art.
Our co-operative received an order from an avid American collector for
complex
large chest with a fairytale on by the of the top Palekh master N.Lopatin.
Many technical
requests were produced for that museum quality piece: very high details of
the facial
expressions, hands, clothing for the figures; many miniature figures on;
very creative and
unique borders and some others and it was asked that the artwork to be the
artist's
original composition, not a copy of his previously done one.
L.Pirogova indicates that Lopatin makes an accent on the most
important for him,
subjecting all the composition for his main idea and building the circles
of the action from
the top to the bottom. He experiments with the colors a lot using different
shades of the
main red/orange, brown and green, putting the stresses by them on the roles
of the
heros of that exciting fairytale.
After nearly a year of work the chest was done and we received many
compliments
from happy customer. He told us that: "?On the Flying Ship box I liked the
way artist
made almost every figure with an individual personality and facial
expressions, I also
liked the interaction between the figures?flowers in the vase painted in
several places?
I very much like the dots that the artist uses to highlight the eyes of the
figures?I would
like to say that I am very pleased with the results of the commissioned
N.Lopatin
Flying Ship box". We are also very proud for that true masterpiece.
